It is that time of year where, having managing to grow stuff, I now have to deal with the bounty. I bought a steam canner a couple of years ago, to preserve fruit, mainly tomatoes. We eat a lot of tomatoes in sauces, so it is definitely worth the effort to grow lots and store them. It takes a bit of time in season but will keep us going all year. This is the process in pictures, it is pretty simple

Briefly blanching the fruit to loosen the skins, then chop up the tomatoes
Decant into sterilised jars, then put the lid on the steamer, get up to temperature and steam for 20 mins
